Patent Ductus arteriosus

The ductus arteriosus connects the aorta with the pulmonary artery. While this connection ensures the blood circulation in the unborn child, it usually closes shortly after birth. If the ductus arteriosus does not close within three months after birth, this condition is known as patent ductus arteriosus.
