Ventricular septal defect
-
Ventricular septal defect refers to a hole in the wall separating the two lower chambers (ventricles) of the heart. Since the pressure in the left heart is higher, oxygenated blood will flow from the left ventricle through the hole into the right ventricle and therefore back into the lesser (pulmonary) circulation.
